The idea comes from an experience far off. In 1996 during a meeting of piano tuners in Cavalese,a technician demonstrated with a simple test on a violin, that the sound in the classic instruments is produced by the soundboard and that the strings are only the mean of vibration. Hanging the violin by the neck, he laid a deafness device connected with a simple tape on the bridge of the instrument. The violin reproduced the sounds and the music transmitted by the tape.
Fabio Ognibeni matured the idea, without knowing how to accomplish it, that it would be possible to make the wood play by itself, without being part of a musical instrument. In few words: to replace the strings with a device that puts the soundboard in vibration.
The idea was developed through deep studies on the soundboard and its physical-acoustic phenomenon, on the extraordinary characteristics of the Fiemme spruce and on the parameters that influence the sound.
The shape of the Opera Sonora was the biggest uncertainty; the world of the classic instruments is based on definite measures, ratio and shapes, imitated in the centuries.
It was uninmaginable to overturn this certitude , but it was the greatest and exciting challenge.
Every entrepreneur would like to create a new and unique product, hard to imitate. The aim of the project was to obtain enchanting sounds and new emotions from the natural material and at the same to create artistic shapes. With the Opere Sonore Fabio Ognibeni realized his dream.
